City of Lebanon Police today issued a release about a fatal traffic accident that occurred earlier this week at 12th & Cumberland Streets.

Around 9:45am on January 29, a 35 year old Lebanon man was seen to be unconscious or sleeping at the traffic light facing south on 12th Street at Cumberland Street.

The release says that another motorist pulled alongside the man and yelled to him asking if he was alright, he awoke and stepped on the throttle accelerating through the intersection striking a metal utility pole on the south side of the intersection.

The man was traveling alone in the vehicle and sustained injuries as a result of the crash. He was transported to a local medical facility, where he passed away yesterday.
