The Lebanon Valley Conservancy has opened applications for its 2019 Richard H. and Karen R. Light Memorial Scholarship.

The $2,500 scholarship is available to graduating seniors in Lebanon County and college students at LVC and HACC that are pursuing a career in conservation, ecology, natural resources, wildlife management, water resources and management, or environmental sciences.

Applications are open until April 1 and the scholarship will be awarded around the time of awards ceremonies at the end of the year.

The application requires a written recommendation by a teacher or professor as well as an original essay. Find the application here (PDF).

The Richard H. and Karen R. Light Memorial Scholarship helps others carry on the couple’s mission of conservation and inspiring others to preserve the earth.

Richard and Karen Light were active members of the Quittapahilla Audubon Society, Lebanon Valley Conservancy, Manada Conservancy, and Friends of Memorial Lake and Swatara State Park. Richard passed away in April 2016 and Karen passed away in April 2018.
