The holiday season is still quite some time away, but it’s never too early to start thinking about ways to help others.
A new group called Helping Hands Of Lebanon County is looking for people who sew, knit, or crochet. The group intends to craft everything from hats and scarves, to dolls and slippers to donate to various organizations.
The group was started at the end of January and recently a sister organization, Helping Hands of Dauphin County, was started as well.
Palmyra native and group founder Kim Moore said that the group is an informal effort of people that just want to do good for others. “Something came over me one day to start a group that would be more than willing to go the extra mile,” she explained.
In preparation for the holidays, the group plans on updating all of the designs of the donated items, something that will require time and additional help from volunteers.
Moore would like to donate items to various rescue missions and other nonprofits operating in Lebanon County, and has already contacted a number of them to establish relationships.
