Walk With A Cop is a free event held several times a year that is designed to teach children ages 6-12 about health and safety.

The next Walk With A Cop event will be held on Saturday, April 27 starting at 10am.

For this upcoming walk, participants will meet at Lebanon Valley Family YMCA where they will join Lebanon City Police Chief Todd Breiner for a walk downtown.

Over the course of the walk, children will learn about a wide range of safety related topics including how to properly cross busy streets at a red light, how to properly use a crosswalks, as well as other health & safety issues such bullying and smoking.

According to Chief Breiner in a release, “‘Walk With A Cop’ has been an extremely positive program that fits exceptionally well within a City environment. I have been able to build great relationships with the children. Many of them return for repeat walks. I sometimes learn from them as much as they learn from me. The children love replicating ‘walking the beat’ just like our police officers do.”

Children who take part in the Walk With A Cop program will receive a neon-green t-shirt that reads “I Walked The Beat” , a safety book, and snacks; all provided by local businesses.

For safety reasons, the number of participants limited. Because of this registration is required to take part in the event. Registration can be completed by filling out the form on the back of the event flyer, which can be found here.
