On Saturday, June 8th, the Annville Free Library will oversee a fundraising event in the form of a five-kilometer (5K) race.

The race will begin at 8:00am June 8 at Annville-Cleona High School, though information and registration will open an hour prior at 7:00am. Families and students are encouraged to come; participants are not required to jog the entirety of the run.

Prior to the race, Denise Smith of Annville’s Yoga for You will guide runners in a yoga warmup session. A gift card to the Batdorf Restaurant will also be given out to a random participant.

After the race, there will be soft pretzels (courtesy of Philly Pretzel Factory), watermelon, and Rita’s Italian ice to help cool off. The top 2 male and female runners will take home prizes, in addition to the top 2 male and female runners in each age bracket.

The age brackets:

  • 8 and under
  • 9-11
  • 12-14
  • 15-17
  • 18-29
  • 30-39
  • 40-49
  • 50-59
  • 60-69
  • 70+

Register at this link. If you register prior to May 30th, you will have the option of receiving a free moisture-wicking Dri-Fit t-shirt.

For attendees, if registered prior to or on May 30th, the price of admission will be $25 (after the 30th the cost of late registration will rise to $30). Kids 11 or younger will cost $15 no matter when registered, although online registration will be locked after June 2nd. 100% of the profits will go towards the Library.

Race coordinator Mike Miller adds, “It’s a great way to kick off Historic Old Annville Day for kids and families.” More details on Historic Old Annville Day can be found here.

The event will take place rain or shine. For more information on the event or the Annville Free Library, visit their Facebook page or webpage, or contact the office. A calendar of other events hosted by the Library can be found here, which include computer courses, knitting, and chess clubs, among others. Clubs like these, in addition to new books, are the result of funds raised from events like the 5K.
