Following the Palmyra Boys Lacrosse Team’s victory in the 2019 PIAA District III Class AAA Championships, the Cougars have been recognized by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

The House passed a resolution recognizing the team and its members: Grant Haus, Caleb Hawkins, Seth Robertson, Nick Wallaesa, Kyle Wasilewski, Stephen Lyons, Brandon Shirk, Brandon Luft, Eddie Clark, Jase Jones, Roman Hall, Tate Wasson, Jake Herman, Spencer Sattazahn, Emmanuel Rose, Richie Kowalski, James Rudegair, Ryan Baysinger, Andrew Ward, Mike Petrino, Tristan Murawaski, T.J. Caton, Nate Blouin, Andrew Cleck, Jake Miller, and John Pallone.

Head Coach Dave Ondrusek and Assistant Coaches Brennen Harding and Sam Wasson were also commended, in addition to Principal Dr. Scott Richardson and Assistant Principals Paul Steigerwald and Daryl Reisinger.

“The House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania pays tribute to the members and coaches of the Palmyra Area High School Boys’ Lacrosse Team, as well as all those who assisted them, upon their well-deserved recognition and championship win; acknowledges their investment of skill and effort in competing on a level which demands perfection; extends best wishes for every future success and personal fulfillment,” the resolution states.

State Representative Frank Ryan (R-101) posted a photo of the resolution to his Facebook page on June 18.

The boys beat the defending champion, Manheim Township, 8-7 at the championships May 23. They are the only school that has won PIAA District III titles at the AA and AAA levels (here’s Lebanon Sports Buzz on the Palmyra squad’s AA win in 2018).

While several sources including the resolution list the score as 9-8, FOX43 coverage of the game shows the score was 8-7.

Following their victory, the team posted a video of players huddling afterwards.

Their victory granted them entry into the PIAA State competition, at which the team lost 9-8 after the game was shortened due to weather conditions.

The team finished its season with 20 wins and 3 losses. It also won the Mid-Penn Keystone Division and the Mid-Penn Conference titles.
