A 47-year-old motorcyclist from Palmyra was killed Saturday night in a crash on Route 422 in North Annville Twp. that closed the highway for several hours.

Chad Eshleman, 47, of Palmyra, was taken to Penn State Hershey Medical Center, where he died. Eshleman was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according to Cleona Police, who responded to the incident. Cleona has a policing agreement with North Annville Township.

The incident occurred at 5:18pm when a 17-year-old woman, attempting to make a left turn into the parking lot of 911 Rapid Response, was rear-ended by a GMC Envoy driven by a 22-year-old York man.

The impact pushed the woman’s car into oncoming traffic where it collided head-on with Eshelman’s motorcycle, police said.

The Lebanon County Accident Reconstruction team was called to the scene and is in the process of reconstructing the crash.

The Lebanon County District Attorney has been notified, but at this time no charges have been filed, said Cleona Police Chief Jeffrey J. Farneski.

Davis Shaver contributed reporting to this story.
