The Palmyra Public Library announced this month that its 2019-2021 Capital Campaign has raised $440,000, or more than 85% of its $500,000 goal.

The announcement, made on behalf of the library’s Board of Directors, noted that due to the “generosity, vision, and devotion” of library founder, Dr. Catherine H. Hand, the library building will be named in her honor.

According to executive director Chelsea Weibley, a dedication & unveiling with Dr. Hand will be held in October during an annual donor appreciation event.

The Capital Campaign follows the library’s relocation to a new facility in Flightpath Business Park (50 Landings Drive, Annville). The relocation has provided the library with ample parking and increased square footage compared to its former location in the municipal building.

However, the move has also brought with it the additional costs of a mortgage and building maintenance. “The Capital Campaign insures the Library continues to provide sustainable and invaluable library services to the Palmyra area,” according to a library release.
