Fall officially came into swing this week and Jonestown Parks and Recreation is starting off the season with a themed event: the Jonestown Fall Fest.

The free-admission Fall Fest will take place at Jonestown Park this Saturday, Sept. 28, from 5 to 9pm. In the event of rain, it will be held October 5.

The event will showcase over 20 local vendors and their wares, ranging from handmade jewelry to seasonal decorations.

The Fall Fest was organized and curated by Chairperson of Jonestown Parks and Recreation Jamie Carl, whose favorite time of year is fall.

“I wanted something fun in Jonestown that was seasonal and that was different from everything else that we have,” said Carl. “I wanted to create an event that I would want to go to.”

Happy Sally, a honky-tonk, country, and blues band, will perform from 5 to 7pm. Cold Spring Reunion, a band with rock and country roots, will follow, performing from 7 to 9pm.

There will also be child-friendly attractions, including pumpkin painting, barrel train rides, a petting zoo, and a bonfire. Volunteers from the Jonestown Fire Company will also make an appearance.

Four food trucks and six food stations total will be there for anyone looking for dinner or a snack.

The Fall Fest was made possible by several sponsors, including Envy Hair, Nail and Tanning Studio and BG’s Value Market, which donated pumpkins for painting.

“We had a lot of sponsorship from local businesses too, which was really cool to get them involved in community events,” said Carl.

While nothing is set in stone yet, Carl expressed her hopes that the Jonestown Fall Fest will become an annual festivity.
