Bethel Township

This crash occurred on Dec. 27 at 3:46 a.m. on Interstate 78 West at mile marker 8.1. Unit 1, a 2019 International Harvester Prostar driven by a 60-year-old Wellsboro man, was traveling in the right westbound lane of Interstate 78 West when Operator 1 observed flames to be emerging from the passenger side trailing portion of Unit 1. Operator 1 directed Unit 1 and its trailing portion to the right shoulder of Interstate 78 West where the entire trailing portion of Unit 1 became engulfed in flames. Operator 1 disconnected Unit 1 from its trailing portion and Unit 1 sustained no damage as a result of this crash. The trailing portion of Unit 1 was completely burned and disabled as a result of this crash and towed from the scene by Bethel Truck Services. Operator 1 sustained no injuries as a result of this crash. Mount Zion Community Fire Company, Lickdale Community Fire Company, Fredericksburg Fire Department, and Northern Lebanon Fire and Emergency Services assisted on scene to extinguish the fire.

Cornwall Borough

DUI – Adam C. Killian, age 39, 712 S. 2nd Ave., Lebanon, has been charged with driving under the influence and a summary violation of driving at a safe speed as the result of a traffic stop conducted during a DUI Roving Patrol on October 27th, 12:45 AM, at Poplar St. & State Drive. His BAC .140%.

Accident – Occurred Friday, 5:23 PM, at the intersection of SR 72 & Zinns Mill Road. A 31-year-old Lebanon woman was traveling south on SR 72 and ran into the rear of a vehicle operated by a 70-year-old Lebanon man who was stopped waiting to turn left onto Zinns Mill Road. The woman and her 7 year old daughter were transported to Well Span Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment. Both vehicles required towing.

Accident – Occurred Friday, 11:50 PM, on the SR 72 North ramp to SR 117. A 20-year-old Akron man slid off the roadway striking an embankment. No injuries. Vehicle was towed.

Accident – Occurred Sunday, 6:42 PM, on SR 72 Northbound at the Mount Gretna exit. A 23-year-old Lebanon man slid off the roadway across a grass island and struck the guiderail. No injuries. Vehicle was towed.

East Hanover Township

On Dec. 24 at 1:43 a.m. a 55-year-old Palmyra man, identified by police as Daniel P. Campbell, was discovered by a resident at a residence on the 00 block of Coon Creek Road. Campbell was discovered outside in a second-floor balcony. It is unknown how long Campbell was outside before being discovered. It appeared to have been from natural causes.

North Cornwall Township

12-23-2019 – 1315 hours – Chestnut Street at Village Court – A 19-year-old Lebanon man was charged with Theft of Services after he used a dumpster illegally.

12-26-2019 – 1357 hours – A 21-year-old Florida woman was backing out of a parking space and struck a 40-year-old Lebanon man who was in the driving lane of the McDonald’s Parking Lot. No injuries, vehicles were driven.

12-26-2019 – 1409 hours – A 67-year-old Lebanon man was traveling north on South Mill Street, he struck a deer. No injuries reported, light damage to the vehicle and deer ran away.

12-26-2019 – 1346 hours Cornwall road at Wilhelm Avenue – A 19-year-old Reading man was on Wilhelm Avenue at the stop sign to turn left onto Cornwall Road. A 31-year-old Lebanon woman was traveling north on Cornwall Road and struck the man as he was turning left. No injuries reported, vehicles were disabled and towed.

12-27-2019 – 2221 hours – a 17 years old male juvenile was traveling east on Royal Road, he came up to the intersection at Colebrook Road and attempted to stop but because of road conditions, he slid through the intersection, across Colebrook Road and into the field. No injuries reported and vehicle was towed.

North Londonderry Township

For an incident that occurred at 2:09 p.m. on Dec. 18, Russell Warner, a 48-year-old Hummelstown man, was charged with one count of retail theft after he concealed 16 items of merchandise, valued at $100.06, on his person and exited the store without paying for the items. A summons will be sent to Warner.

For an incident that occurred Dec. 23 at 11:44 a.m., North Londonderry Township Police cited a 50-year-old Lebanon woman with driving vehicle at safe speeds after she struck the rear of a vehicle stopped in traffic, that was being operated by a 50-year-old Schuylkill Haven man. The Palmyra Fire Department was on scene for fluids on the roadway. The man’s vehicle was towed from the scene, due to heavy front end damage.

North Londonderry Township Police have charged Melinda Alva, a 51-year-old Palmyra woman, with two counts of retail theft for her involvement in two separate thefts that occurred at Walmart on Dec. 4 and Dec. 9 in which she stole $178.06 in merchandise.

For an incident that occurred Dec. 27 at 2:20 p.m., a 20-year-old Lebanon woman was cited for driving too fast for conditions after she lost control of her vehicle at the intersection of Gravel Hill Road and Bindnagles Road and crashed in to a ditch. No injuries, vehicle had to be towed.

South Londonderry Township

Five persons were charged with retention of library property after borrowing books and/or DVD’s from the Palmyra Library and failing to return the items after a certified letter was sent to them advising them to return the items or they would be prosecuted by the police for retention of library property. The people were a 27-year-old Lebanon man, a 49-year-old Palmyra woman, a 44-year-old Annville woman, a 51-year-old Palmyra woman, and a 50-year-old Annville woman.

West Cornwall Township

Harassment – A 39-year-old York man has been charged for an incident at November 27th, 1:09 PM, at Wellspan Philhaven 283 S. Butler Road, for striking a 76 year old male patient in the head.

Fugitive – James J. Pournaras, age 51, 706 First Ave., Lebanon, was taken into custody Tuesday, 7:00 AM, as the result of a traffic stop at 3190 Lebanon Road. A records check revealed an outstanding Bench Warrant for Pournaras from Cecil County, MD. He was charged with being a fugitive from justice and transported to Central Booking for arraignment.
