The Lebanon Valley Conservancy is partnering with Clarence Schock Memorial Park to offer three free informational sessions over the course of the winter.

These sessions focus on locally relevant environmental topics. Each session will take place at Clarence Schock Memorial Park at Governor Dick at 2 p.m. Registration is not required.

Jan. 12: Return on Environment: Lebanon County

Presenters Jeanne Ortiz (Program Manager, Audobon Pennsylvania) and Tom West of Keystone Conservation Trust, will discuss the 2019 Return on Environment study conducted by the Kittatinny Coalition. They will explain how it connects to land use planning and conservation efforts.

Feb. 9: Invasive Plants of Pennsylvania

Associate Professor of Biology at Lebanon Valley College Rebecca Urban will explain how to identify and counter invasive plants, including Japanese barberry, bush honeysuckle, and garlic mustard. She will also explain how these species affect the ecosystem.

March 8: Dare 2B Tick Aware: A Program of the PA Lyme Resource Network

Lebanon County Lyme Support Group Leader Anne Desjardins will lead discussion on Lyme disease and how it is spread. The discussion will also include explanations of how to recognize Lyme disease symptoms and current Pennsylvania Lyme disease trends.

Emily Bixler was born and raised in Lebanon and now reports on local government. In her free time, she enjoys playing piano and going for hikes.
