Lebanon County has a new state Senator. As of Wednesday, Senate District 48 is now represented by state Senator Dave Arnold, formerly Lebanon County’s district attorney.

Named the Republican nominee in October, Arnold was elected in the special election held earlier this month to fill the remainder of the term vacated by former state Senator Michael Folmer.

His role was made official at a swearing-in ceremony held Wednesday at the State Capitol. Commonwealth Court Judge Kevin Brobson conducted the ceremony. As is typical, Lt. Gov John Fetterman presided over senate proceedings while the swearing-in ceremony was conducted.

“I, David J. Arnold, do solemnly swear that I will support, obey, and defend the Constitution of this Commonwealth and the Constitution of the United States and that I will discharge the duties of my office with fidelity,” confirmed Arnold in taking the oath of office.

Senate District 48 contains all of Lebanon County and parts of Dauphin and York counties. Arnold now holds the seat through 2022.

Arnold (or his new communications staff) posted to Twitter following proceedings.

WGAL reporter Barbara Barr also stopped by his office afterwards for an interview.
