One more event to add to the long list of things not happening this spring because of safety concerns brought on by the current coronavirus pandemic.

The annual Tom Gerhart Sports Memorabilia Auction is being postponed from April 18 to October 17, still to be held at the Hebron Catering Hall in Lebanon. This year’s auction will be the 20th for Gerhart, a Lebanon native and former Philadelphia Eagle who operates a financial services office in Downtown Lebanon.

Proceeds from the annual affair benefit the Anne Fund, a charity created by Gerhart in memory of his mother. It provides financial help to families battling cancer and organizations for cancer patients. Over the years, the auction has raised over $350,000 for the WellSpan Sechler Family Cancer Center, the American Cancer Society, and the Hershey/Palmyra Sertoma Club’s Christmas Party for pediatric cancer patients.

Sports memorabilia is still a hot commodity and Gerhart’s notoriety and reputation have made it possible for him to obtain items from some of the most popular personalities in the world of sports. The format features both “live” and silent auctions.

Add to that, a big spread of food and drink from the area’s most popular restaurants, brewers and wineries and you have the makings of an evening any sports fan would thoroughly enjoy. Tickets are $25 in advance, $35 at the door. Call Gerhart’s office at 717-274-8790 to reserve tickets.

“This was a necessary move,” said Gerhart in a press release announcing the postponement. “The important thing is that we WILL have our special 20th anniversary event. It will just have to wait until the time is right”

Again, the new date is Saturday, October 17. LebTown will have more information this summer.
