The Campbelltown Community Alliance (CCA) has finished its project beautifying the roundabout at Northside Drive and S. Forge Rd.
The roundabout, once just grass, now has “native plantings with a river stone border,” according to the CCA’s press release.
CCA members worked on the project for several days, and will continue watering and weeding the area during the summer. The press release notes that other native plantings will be added when funding is available.
Native plantings were recommended by Laurie Crawford of Lebanon Valley Conservancy, who explained in the press release that native plants “will be easier to maintain and will contribute to the local ecosystem.”
The PennDOT-approved project received funding from Brownstone Real Estate Company, Palmyra Garden Club, Consolidated Insurance Services, Inc., Ames Sales and Services, Gluszko Architects, CCA members, and individuals through GoFundMe.
Cheyney Property Maintenance provided recommendations for changes to the roundabout. The project’s design was provided by Mae Marie Organics.
The project relied on others as well: The press release notes that Good’s Tree Care provided most of the wood chips for the project, and the nearby Community Bible Church provides water.

The roundabout, the first in the county, was added to S. Forge Rd./Route 117 in 2011.
