WellSpan Health, operator of Lebanon’s Good Samaritan Hospital, is building a walk-in urgent care center on Route 422 between Annville and Palmyra, and hopes to open it to non-emergency patients in late August.

The 5,000 square foot building at 9 Nathan Lane, off Clear Spring Road and behind Country Lane Furniture, will feature six exam rooms, an X-ray suite, and a laboratory for testing. It will employ 10 people, including three physician assistants.

WellSpan Urgent Care will operate the new facility, which will be open to non-emergency patients three months and older, seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The new urgent care center is designed to treat patients with minor illnesses and injuries such as earaches, vomiting, back pain, rashes, and burns. The center will also offer school, camp, college, and sports physicals, as well as some routine immunizations.

Urgent care centers allow certain illnesses and injuries to be treated without emergency room visits and at lower cost.

“We’re excited to offer our high-quality urgent care services in Lebanon County,” said Creston Tate, D.O., WellSpan Medical Director of Urgent Care, in a release. “This is part of our commitment to deliver on our promise to improve the health of people in our communities.”

While no appointment will be necessary, patients will have the option of scheduling an appointment in advance by computer or smart phone using WellSpan’s “Reserve My Spot” service.

This will be WellSpan’s fourth walk-in urgent care facility. The others are in Lancaster, York, and Adams counties.
