Lebanon County hardwoods manufacturer Weaber has opened a new Downtown Lebanon career center designed to help bring new workers into the industry.

The center, located at 841 Cumberland Street across from the municipal lot, will serve as an anchor point for a new Weaber Career Center van offering employees with transportation out to the mill, located at 1231 Mount Wilson Road in South Annville Township, or “on the mountain” as Weaber says.

In a release, Weaber President/CEO Matt Weaber said that the idea has been developing for a while, with the company’s growth creating new labor needs. According to the release, the company sought to provide a different experience than the typical impersonal online application.

“The Career Center is a way to share our mission and what we do,” said Weaber in the release. “You come inside, and you will discover something that the general public would not ordinarily know about our company.”

Weaber said that filling jobs wasn’t the goal, but rather kickstarting careers.

“By offering continual training, we have seen many of our people advance with their newly learned skills into new careers at our mill, that, to be honest, they were surprised they could do,” said Weaber. “Each have excelled in the new positions. Plus with the advancement came wages that enhanced their lives and their family’s lives as well.”

“Working at Weaber was not just a job—it became a career.”

In the same spirit, both the new office and employee shuttle are branded with a new slogan for the Career Center – “Your Career Starts Here.”
