Bethel Township

Vehicle Accident – On Dec. 16, 2020 at 9:03 p.m., this single-vehicle crash occurred on I 78 Eastbound in the area of mile marker 5.8. This single-vehicle crash occurred while Unit 1, a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Operator 1, a 30 year old South Plainfield, NJ man, was traveling eastbound on I 78 when it struck an object in the roadway. Unit 1 sustained disabling damage to its front passenger’s side tire as a result of it striking the object. Unit 1’s passenger’s side front tire became deflated off of the rim. Unit 1 came to final rest on the right shoulder of I 78 Eastbound. Unit 1 was towed from the scene by Joe May’s Towing Company. Operator 1 was not injured as a result of this crash.

Vehicle Accident – On Dec. 16, 2020 at 9:11 p.m., this reportable crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2018 Freightliner Cascadia, driven by Operator 1, a 27 year old Hazle Twp. man, was making a right turn off of exit ramp 6 off of I 78 onto Pine Grove Rd. (SR 343) in Bethel Twp. Unit 1 was attempting to make a right turn onto Pine Grove Rd. when Operator 1 was unable to gain traction on the snow-covered roadway. Unit 1 traveled east across Pine Grove Rd. into the guide rail. Initial impact occurred as the front bumper of Unit 1 struck the guide rail. Unit 1 came to final rest facing southeast across Pine Grove Rd. Unit 1 was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported as a result of this crash. Operator 1 was cited for Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic.

East Hanover Township

DUI – On Dec. 17, 2020 at 1:49 p.m., PSP Jonestown troopers responded to I 81 North for a reported disabled motorist. Upon contact with the Operator, signs of impairment were observed and the Operator was taken into custody without incident for Driving Under the Influence (DUI). The Operator was transported for a legal blood draw. The Arrestee was a 33 year old Ephrata man. The vehicles involved included a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe.

Heidelberg Township

Vehicle Accident – On Dec. 17, 2020 at 6:10 p.m., this non-reportable crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2009 GMC 2500HD, driven by Operator 1, was traveling northbound on Stiegel Rd. (SR 501), just north of Cherry Lane Rd. in Heidelberg Twp. Unit 1 was traveling north approaching a left curve when Operator 1 began to fall asleep and traveled off of the roadway, striking a large rock. Initial impact occurred as the front right bumper of Unit 1 collided with the rock. Unit 1 came to final rest on the right shoulder. Unit 1 was driven from the scene. No injuries were reported as a result of this crash. Operator 1 was cited for Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic.

Jonestown Borough

Harassment – On Dec. 18, 2020 at 7:01 p.m., PSP Jonestown troopers responded to West Market St. for a reported domestic. This incident occurred as two males engaged in a verbal altercation that became physical. One male was cited for Harassment. The Arrestee was a 59 year old Jonestown man. The Victim was a 35 year old Ocala, FL man.

Millcreek Township

Overdose – On Dec. 19, 2020 at 5:27 p.m., PSP Jonestown troopers responded to Cottage Ln. for a Request Assist call. Investigation revealed that a 52 year old Newmanstown male suffered a drug overdose and was subsequently transported by EMS to the Good Samaritan Hospital for an evaluation.

Myerstown Borough

Vehicle Accident – On Dec. 17, 2020 at 1:54 p.m., this reportable crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2010 Ford Econoline E150, driven by Operator 1, a 38 year old Myerstown man, was traveling eastbound on East Lincoln Ave. (SR 422), just east of South College St. (SR 501) in Myerstown Boro. Operator 1 was traveling east when he lost control of Unit 1 and went off the roadway and struck a tree on the property located on the 00 block of West Lincoln Ave. Initial impact occurred as the front left quarter panel and tire of Unit 1 struck the tree off the south side of the roadway. Unit 1 came to final rest facing east in front of the property located on the 00 block of West Lincoln Ave. Unit 1 was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported as a result of this crash. Operator 1 was cited for Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic.

Palmyra Borough

Vehicle Accident – On Dec. 17, 2020 at 6:19 p.m., this two-vehicle crash occurred on West Cherry St. at its intersection with South Railroad St. in Palmyra Boro. This crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2009 Mack Trucks, driven by Operator 1, a 32 year old Hummelstown man, was attempting to make a right turn onto West Cherry St. from South Railroad St. when it struck Unit 2, a 2012 Toyota RAV4, driven by Operator 2, a 28 year old Palmyra man, with its frontend snowplow. Unit 2 was stopped at the stop sign on West Cherry St., waiting to travel straight onto East Cherry St. when it was struck by the snowplow of Unit 1 in its driver’s side door. Neither Operator 1 nor Operator 2 were injured as a result of this crash and were wearing their seatbelts. Unit 2 sustained minor damage to the driver’s side door. Unit 1 sustained no damage to the snowplow. Both Unit 1 and Unit 2 were driven from the scene. Operator 1 was cited for Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic.
