It might not even be Thanksgiving yet, but one of the biggest annual displays is actually already up and ready for visitors.
White’s Holiday Show at the intersection of Miller and Cherry Streets in Lebanon is now open nightly from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
White’s Holiday Show features thousands of pixel and LED lights. Tune your radio to 90.1 FM to hear the music (or simply blast the heat and roll down your window).
The show will be open through Jan. 1.

The history of Christmas lights in Lebanon

Christmas light displays have a long history in Lebanon, with references to the Bon Ton’s “myriad of Christmas lights” found in newspapers as early as 1914. The practice expanded in the 1930s, with the Lebanon Electric Company installing curb lights in downtown Lebanon for the month of December.
In a brilliant marketing move, the Electric League of Lebanon hosted a Christmas lights decorating contest in 1932, offering up several prizes for the best decorated business places and homes. Lebanon’s light displays were impressive enough that airplane tours of the area taking off from Fredericksburg in the late 1940s touted them as a feature of the tour.
The elaborate displays of the “King of Lights,” Frank Weihrauch Jr., were a staple of Lebanon’s holiday season for many years.
