Prom might be a chance to dress up like royalty, but that doesn’t mean you have to spend a fortune on clothing.

The Glass Slipper Project, an annual collection drive and sale of used prom dresses, is returning this year to offer good quality dresses for Lebanon County high school students.

The sale, cancelled in 2021, has been a project of the Lebanon County Commission for Women for over a decade.

“For one weekend annually, the Glass Slipper Event takes over a storefront at the Lebanon Valley Mall, brings in local seamstresses, and helps to create affordable access to students for formal events in a young person’s life,” says the commission’s webpage.

Dresses were collected last week. This year, the sale will take place at the mall at the former Foot Locker storefront on March 4 from 7 to 9 p.m. and March 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A fashion show will also take place at the mall on March 4 at 6 p.m. at the stage near Boscov’s inside the eastern end of the mall.

As part of the sale, the commission also donates prom tickets for each school district in a raffle as well as coupons for nail services, flowers, and other prom-related accoutrements.

The sale is open to any high school student in the Lebanon County area. School IDs must be presented to participate.
