Now through Aug. 12, the United Way of Lebanon County is collecting school supplies in its annual “Stuff the Bus” school supply drive.

The VF Corp. kicked off this year’s effort with a donation of 250 backpacks for students throughout Lebanon County. Now United Way of Lebanon County is looking for the public’s help to fill those book bags and ensure every child in the county has what they need to start the school year on the right foot.

Backpacks and school supplies can be donated a couple of different ways.

  • Drop off supplies at United Way of Lebanon County’s tent at First Friday on Aug. 5 from 4 to 7 p.m.
  • Arrange for pickup or dropoff of donated items by contacting United Way of Lebanon County at (717) 273-8144.

United Way of Lebanon County also has an Amazon wishlist available.

If you prefer to contribute monetarily, donations can be made online. Each $15 raises provides a backpack full of supplies for a local child.

United Way of Lebanon County also welcomes volunteers who might want to run a collection drive at their office, church, or other community location. (Email for more information.)

United Way of Lebanon County is partnering with several local groups for this event, including Making a Difference of Lebanon PA, the Salvation Army, WellSpan Health, and the Lebanon Valley Family YMCA.

The organizations hope to outfit at least 300 kids in Lebanon County this fall.
