Deer Struck – A vehicle driven by a 76-year-old Lebanon man struck a deer at 9:33 a.m. July 30 on SR 322, just west of Boyd Street. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
East Hanover Township
Vehicle Accident – At 1:35 p.m. July 31, a crash occurred as a 2012 Chevrolet Colorado driven by a 65-year-old Pine Grove man hit an unoccupied 2011 Ford Escape in a parking stall at Memorial Lake State Park (Upper Road). While backing up, the Pine Grove man misjudged the distance between his vehicle and the legally parked Ford. The Chevrolet sustained scratches to the driver’s side tailgate. The Ford sustained a dent to the rear driver’s side bumper. No airbags were deployed as a result of the crash. The Pine Grove man was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and reported no injuries.
Theft Disposition of Funds – At 2:44 p.m. Aug. 2, police responded to Houtztown Road for a reported theft of a bank check for $32.05. The victim was an 80-year-old Myerstown man. The investigation is ongoing.
Vehicle Accident, Accidents Involving Damage to Unattended Vehicle or Property – At 8:15 p.m. July 31, a two-vehicle hit-and-run crash occurred on the 00 block of East Market Street. A 2022 Toyota Highlander driven by a 34-year-old Jonestown man was backing out of a parking stall and struck a 2016 Nissan Frontier. The Jonestown man was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and sustained no injuries. The Toyota sustained no visible damage. The Nissan sustained minor damage to its rear tailgate. The Jonestown man fled the scene but was later identified by police, who cited him with accidents involving damage to an unattended vehicle or property.
Theft – At approximately 1:11 p.m. Aug. 3, police responded to the 200 block of West Market Street for the theft of approximately $80 of gas from the victim’s vehicle, a 2005 Nissan X-Terra. The victim, a 50-year-old Jonestown man, stated that his vehicle was parked in his driveway, unattended and not driven for several weeks because of mechanical issues. The victim noticed that the gas tank was empty at the above-listed date and time after attempting to start the vehicle and that the tank was full the last time he operated it. Criminal Mischief under $1,000 – At 11:50 a.m. July 27, police responded to Edgemont Lane for a report of a damaged storm door. Police determined that sometime between 5:30 p.m. July 26 and 11:30 a.m. July 27, the door, valued at $100, shattered via unknown means, causing a baseball-sized hole in the glass. The victim was a 76-year-old Newmanstown man. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact PSP Jonestown at 717-865-2194. Police are investigating.
Indecent Assault – Police are investigating a ChildLine referral alleging sexual abuse of an 11-year-old Newmanstown female victim that occurred sometime between 12 a.m. Jan. 29, 2018, and 11:59 p.m. Jan. 29, 2019, on Newburg Drive. The investigation is ongoing.
False Alarms – At 4:59 a.m. July 31, police cited the arrestee on West Lincoln Avenue with false alarms for more than three false alarms occurring in a consecutive 12-month period.
North Cornwall Township
Assault, Harassment – At 3:40 p.m. July 24, police responded to the Plaza apartments for a reported domestic altercation between Michael Sowards, 40, of Lebanon, and a male victim. Sowards bit and struck the victim, causing wounds and pain. Police arrested Sowards for assault and harassment.
Assault – At 9:08 p.m. Aug. 3, police responded to Millview Court for an altercation between Arcenio Gonzalez, 24, of Lebanon, and a female victim. Gonzalez grabbed the victim’s hair and started pulling it, then stuck the victim in the head with a closed fist. Police arrested Gonzalez for assault.
North Londonderry Township
Warrant, Arrest Prior to Requisition – At 10:10 p.m. Aug. 1, police arrested Alizae Lugo, 23, of Lebanon, on an out-of-state warrant after they stopped her vehicle on Heather Lane and Gravel Hill Road for a violation. Police charged Lugo with arrest prior to requisition and took her to LCCB to await extradition.
Hit-and-Run Crash – At approximately 2:56 a.m. July 31, police responded to the 400 block of East Main Street for a reported hit-and-run. Police determined that a black Kawasaki motorcycle was struck while it was legally parked in the west lane. The impact from the striking vehicle pushed the motorcycle over the curb. The striking vehicle, which fled the scene, is a silver Kia that is missing its driver’s side headlight assembly and is believed to have suffered additional front-end damage. Anyone with information on this crash is asked to contact the Palmyra police at 717-838-8189 or leave a tip on CrimeWatch.
DUI, Damage to Unattended Vehicle – At approximately 12:59 a.m. May 8, police responded to the 700 block of North Railroad Street for a reported hit-and-run crash. Police arrived on the scene and located two legally parked vehicles that had been damaged. Minutes later, police located the striking vehicle in the 400 block of North Chestnut Street with heavy front-end damage. Police identified the driver as Christopher Behl, 40. Police observed Behl was visibly intoxicated and placed him under arrest for suspicion of DUI. Police cited Behl with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, two counts of damage to an unattended vehicle, and two other summary traffic violations.
Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance – At approximately 8:30 p.m. Jan. 10, police initiated a traffic stop on the 800 block of East Arch Street. Police identified the driver as Joel Weise, 18. Police found Weise in possession of over a hundred THC cartridges. On July 25, charges were filed against Weise at MDJ Garver’s office for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, general lighting requirements, and periods for required lighted lamps.
Bench Warrant, Flight to Avoid Apprehension, Drug Possession – At approximately 2:43 a.m. June 16, police attempted to stop Jason Knight, 45, who was wanted out of York County for a felony bench warrant. Knight attempted to evade police but was taken into custody. While in custody, police found Knight in possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Knight was released from custody, and an arrest warrant was issued against Knight for flight to avoid apprehension, possession of a small amount of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police arrested Knight on July 27.
Drug Possession, Operation Following Suspension of Registration – At approximately 7:46 p.m. June 28, police initiated a traffic stop on the 800 block of East Main Street. Police identified the driver as Jennifer Torres, 37. Police found Torres in possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. On July 25, charges were filed at MDJ Garver’s office against Torres for possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, operation following the suspension of registration, and required financial responsibility.
South Londonderry Township
Vehicle Accident – At 8:33 a.m. July 29, a two-vehicle crash involving a structure occurred on Horseshoe Pike and Lawn Road. A vehicle driven by an 18-year-old Palmyra man made a left turn from Lawn Road onto Horseshoe Pike without clearance, striking a vehicle driven by a 69-year-old Lebanon man. One of the drivers sustained a suspected minor injury as a result of the crash and was transported to receive medical treatment.
Theft – At 10:28 p.m. July 23, police responded to Lickdale Road for a reported theft. Police determined that the arrestee stole a donation jar from the Speedway in Jonestown.
West Cornwall Township
Receiving Stolen Property, Driving While Operating Privilege is Suspended or Revoked – At approximately 6:13 p.m. July 26, police were notified of a 1990 Suzuki ATV abandoned on SR 72 near Spring Hill Lane. Police determined that the ATV was stolen from Lancaster County. Police located the driver, who was identified as a 29-year-old Lebanon resident. Police cited the driver with receiving stolen property and driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked. Police placed the driver into LCCF.
