A new support group for adult victims and survivors of domestic violence has opened for Lebanon County residents.

The support group is the creation of Domestic Violence Intervention of Lebanon County (DVI), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing assistance and sanctuary to victims living in the county.

Meetings will take place in the city of Lebanon on the first and third Tuesdays of each month from 6 to 7:30 p.m. throughout the year. For safety reasons, the exact location of the meeting is not disclosed to the public.

To join the group, call DVI at (717) 273-7395 or email dvipec@dviolc.org. The service is entirely free and confidential and is open to both people currently experiencing relationship abuse as well as people recovering from past abuse.

The sessions will be facilitated by a marriage and family therapist and will include topics such as boundaries and power, anxiety, self-care and self-talk, identifying personal strengths, and emotional intelligence, among others. Each session is interactive and participants may involve themselves as much or as little as desired.

In addition to the support group, DVI freely offers a number of other services to domestic violence victims, including a hotline, counseling, temporary shelter, and programs for children in abusive households. More information about these services, as well as the signs of domestic abuse in general, may be found on their website.
