The Cornwall-Lebanon School District is soliciting self-nominations to fill a school director position left vacant by the resignation of board member Susan Levendoski.

A reason for the resignation was not disclosed in a statement from the district. Board president Ruth Ann Schlegel thanked Levendoski for her two years of service to the district as a director in the release.

Levendoski was elected in the 2021 general election for a four-year term.

The board must replace Levendoski within 30 days of her Jan. 17 resignation, according to Pennsylvania’s School Code.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens at least 18 years of age who have resided within the Cornwall-Lebanon School District for a minimum of one year.

Interested residents who meet these criteria should send a Letter of Interest to the address below no later than 4:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27:

Mrs. Linda Doane, executive assistant to the superintendent
Educational Service Center
105 E. Evergreen Road
Lebanon, PA 17042

Application packages should include a summary of why the applicant wishes to serve on the board, contact information, and “any other relevant information” the applicant would like to share.

According to a notice posted on the district website, interviews will be held during a public work session on Feb. 6, beginning at 5:30 p.m. A new director will be appointed at the Feb. 13 board meeting.

Both meetings are open to the public and will be held at Cedar Crest High School.

The district notes in its release that the director, to be selected by majority vote of the board, will serve until early December, when they will be replaced by a candidate to be elected this fall in the general election. That candidate will then fulfill the remaining two years of Levendoski’s term.
