The Lady Falcons went to the line for a local charity – and raised $3,000 in the process.

This year in the annual “Foul Shots for Charity” fundraiser, Cedar Crest Lady Falcon basketball players in grades 7-12 committed to each shooting 500 foul shots to support a local charity.

42 players participated in this year’s fundraiser, totaling 21,000 foul shots. Thanks to donations from friends and family, players were able to raise $6,000 total. Half of the proceeds go towards supporting the Lady Falcons basketball program.

This is the third consecutive year that the Lady Falcons have selected the Ronald McDonald House of Central PA as the recipient of their fundraising efforts. The Ronald McDonald House serves as free temporary housing for non-local families of children receiving treatment at Penn State Children’s Hospital for serious illnesses.

The donation check was given to Alexandria Resetar, marketing & communications manager from the Ronald McDonald House, at the varsity team’s home game against Manheim Township on Feb. 2, with all participating Lady Falcons invited to join in for the check presentation.

As part of the relationship with Ronald McDonald House, three senior Lady Falcons also made a visit to the organization’s Hershey facility in November to prepare 40 meals for resident families.

“We’re proud of the young ladies on this team for raising money to support such an amazing local organization,” said Tom Donley, chair of the event and member of the Lady Falcon Basketball Parent Club, “and our seniors for the time and care they put into planning and making meals for such a large number of families.”

“They did an outstanding job!”
