The Lebanon County Historical Society will host a Sunday program at 1:30 p.m. April 16, showcasing “Giving Back: The History of the Lebanon Valley Family YMCA.”

The lecture will be presented by Brad Charles, author of the book of the same name.

The YMCA has played a significant role in shaping the lives of many in the Lebanon Valley, and this program will take attendees on a journey through the successful and challenging times of the organization. Charles’ research highlights the impactful role of volunteers and leaders in the YMCA’s history, including the organization’s efforts to provide opportunities for women to participate in activities previously only available to men.

For generations, the Lebanon YMCA has been known for its commitment to mentoring and supporting children and youth in the community. This has resulted in a passionate group of adults who give back their time to mentor and lead the next generation at the YMCA.

The event should be an engaging and informative look at the history and impact of the Lebanon Valley Family YMCA. Organizers encourage community members to attend and learn more about the organization’s rich heritage.
