Lebanon City Council held a brisk meeting on Monday, April 24, followed by a repeat of the mayor’s 2023 State of the City address.

In what chairperson Joseph Morales described as “the shortest city council meeting I think I’ve ever had,” the council heard the quarterly budget report for 2023 from Jan. 1 to March 31.

The city is performing slightly better than budgeted, Mayor Sherry Capello said, listing revenues at just over 25 percent and expenditures at less than 17 percent.

The only action taken at the eight-minute meeting was the approval of the March 27 meeting minutes (PDF).

Following the council meeting, Capello repeated her 2023 State of the City address.

Capello said that since her first address, hosted by the Community of Lebanon Association, was held during the day and for CLA members, she wanted to hold an additional nighttime address to increase accessibility.

“I wanted to provide an opportunity for our residents, business and property owners who perhaps, work during the day to be able to attend a presentation,” Capello said in an email to LebTown.

Capello also said that she hopes to hold a second State of the City address next year as well, given this year’s turnout.
