Community Collection
Saturday, May 9, 2020
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

While many of our neighbors have fallen on hard times because of the safety measures enacted to combat the spread of COVID-19, people across Lebanon County have stepped up to make sure no one goes without the necessities. We are grateful to and proud of our neighbors for their efforts throughout this challenging time, and we are happy to do our part as well.

While the needs of many food banks are being met thanks to that generosity, many people do not realize that there is an enormous need for toiletries as well. To help close that gap, we will host a community collection drive on Saturday, May 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. People can load up their cars with items for donation and drive to one of the two drop-off sites where a volunteer will unload their donations. Items will be distributed among local food pantries.

You can find the Facebook event page here.

Drop-Off Sites:

  • 915 East Cherry Street, Palmyra, PA 17078
  • 23 South 6th Street, Lebanon, PA 17042

Note: The mail carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger initiative has been postponed from this date, so if you were planning to leave out food for them to collect, consider giving to this drive instead.

We will accept liquid soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, razors, shaving cream, feminine hygiene products, and other personal care essentials. We will also accept donations of nonperishable food and cash, which will be given to participating food pantries.

We work better when we work together, and we all believe that we can close the remaining needs gap in the same way organizations have already assisted more than 2,300 families get the food they need.

Sincerely,

Calvin “Doc” Clements, Patty Smith, Matt Duvall, Laura Quick, and Gary Wegman
