In partnership with the Lebanon County Library Association, LebTown is proud to introduce “Library Letters,” a series of columns about the programming, people, and possibilities offered by libraries around the county.

Today’s letter is from Amy Davis, director of the Myerstown Community Library.

We show love to each other on Valentine’s Day, but did you know that the month of February is all about showing love to libraries and those who love them? Celebrate Library Lovers Month with us all of February at Lebanon County Libraries. It’s a leap year, so we even get an extra day to celebrate!

Celebrating Library Lovers Month is easy. Show your love with your time. Volunteer at your local library. Volunteers are a lifeline for many local libraries. Volunteers shelve books, help prepare story times, read to/with children, nurture plants and help repair damaged materials.

Consider a tax-deductible gift to your library. Many libraries have memorial programs, endowments and other opportunities to support quality library services. Some other ways you can contribute to your library are: Buy your library a subscription to a popular magazine. Honor a friend or relatives birthday with book for the library. Donate a book…or a whole shelf of books! Remember your library in your estate planning. Give to the library through your company’s matching program for charitable giving.

Visit your local library in person and online. Download ebooks to read anywhere you go from our online platform Libby. Follow us on social media, we all post exciting things happening in our communities. Libraries are a hub for local connections; meet new people, discover new authors and find out what makes your community unique. Lebanon County Libraries love our patrons!

Lebanon County Libraries will be showing our love to you, our patrons, during the month of February. Adult Technology classes, preschool story times, book discussion groups and STEM in Action programs are just some of the wide range of programs offered at our libraries all month long. Annville Free Library will host Ukuele Jam Night on February 11. Smart Start Baby Storytimes will resume at all libraries in February. Matthews Library will continue their Children’s Story Hour on Wednesdays at 10:00. Palmyra Public Library will open up their MakerSpace on February 18. Richland Community Library will host Lego Club February 10 and Myerstown Community Library will host a Saturday Crafternoon on February 15. Check out our websites for more details at www.lclibs.org. We will be open each day ready to introduce you to a new favorite author or assist you with finding your next job.

Visit us at all the Lebanon County Libraries and tell us what you like about us, and what you’d like to see more of. Bring a friend to the library, or write a postcard to our legislators to let them know why you love your library.

Your library loves you back!
